Customisations

A stocked product that needs engraving or embroidery still becomes real production work.

Last updated

Not every order that needs work is made-to-order. A towel that already exists still needs someone to embroider a name on it before it ships.

Orderkraft reads the line item attribute your customer filled in, maps it through a customisation intent to a name your production team recognises, and attaches it to a manufacturing order. Regular, stocked product. Real production step. Both true at once.

This is what closes a gap that swallows a lot of personalisation apps. They capture the customer’s choice beautifully on the storefront, then dump it, unlabelled, onto the order line for someone to decode by hand. Orderkraft picks it up from there and gives it a name your floor already understands.

Multiple customisations on one line item work the same way. Each one lands as its own record, so a corporate gifting order with a different name per recipient doesn’t collapse into a single unreadable string.

Questions

Does the product need to be made-to-order for this to work?
No. A regular, stocked product still triggers a manufacturing order the moment it carries a matched customisation. That's the whole point. The towel exists; the embroidery on it is what needs building.
Where does the customisation data come from?
Line item attributes, Shopify's only mechanism for carrying personalisation on an order line, whichever app your customers used to enter it.
What if the same attribute means different things across products?
Customisation intents map a specific attribute key to a name your team reads, per product. The same raw attribute can mean different things on different products without your floor having to guess.
