Install Orderkraft on Shopify
Installing Orderkraft from the Shopify App Store is the first step. Most of the work after that happens in the background, but it helps to know what’s being set up so the rest of the steps make sense.
How to install
- Open the Orderkraft listing in the Shopify App Store.
- Click Add app.
- Approve the permissions Shopify asks for.
- Orderkraft opens inside your Shopify Admin and lands you on the setup checklist.
You need to be a store owner or have the Apps and channels permission to install apps on your store.
What Orderkraft asks for
Orderkraft requests read or write access to a few things on your store:
- Orders (read), so it knows when a made-to-order item has been sold
- Products (read and write), to flag products as made-to-order and store production data on them
- Locations (read and write), to mirror your locations and let you mark one as a production facility
- Metaobjects and metaobject definitions (read and write), to define the production lead time structure
- Fulfillment constraint rules (write), for the split-shipments rule you turn on later
If you change your mind, you can uninstall the app from Settings → Apps and sales channels in your Shopify Admin. Orderkraft removes the metafields and metaobjects it created when it’s uninstalled.
What happens automatically
Two things happen without any input from you.
Your locations sync. Orderkraft pulls your Shopify locations and stores them, usually within a minute. They appear in the Locations tab once they’re done.
Three metafield definitions are added: Made to Order (a boolean on products), Production Lead Time (a reference on products), and Location Type on locations (fulfillment, production, or both). You won’t need to touch these directly. Orderkraft writes to them when you configure a product or designate a production location.
What’s next
Once your locations are synced, the setup checklist asks you to pick a plan. The trial is 14 days, and you won’t be billed until it ends.
